Resul Şahinol currently serves as the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Miami. With a distinguished career spanning over four decades, Mr. Şahinol has garnered extensive experience in diplomacy, international relations, and legal affairs. He is also the proud father of two children.
Education:
Mr. Şahinol’s academic journey began at the Turkish Army War College, where he completed his studies between 1982 and 1986. He furthered his education with a degree in law from Ankara University’s Faculty of Law in 1996. In 2006, he earned a master’s degree in Private Law from the Institute of Social Sciences at Ankara Gazi University, solidifying his legal expertise.
Professional Experience:
Mr. Şahinol’s career started in the Turkish Armed Forces, where he served as a Lieutenant and First Lieutenant from 1982 to 1990. After transitioning to a career in diplomacy, he took on various roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including positions in the Security and Disarmament Departments from 1993 to 1996.
From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Şahinol served as Counselor at Türkiye’s Permanent Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Vienna. His expertise continued to grow with subsequent roles in the Legal Department of the Ministry, where he served as Legal Counselor from 2001 to 2003.
Between 2003 and 2007, Mr. Şahinol served as Legal Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in The Hague, followed by leadership positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Head of Legal Department and First Legal Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Şahinol took the position of Counselor at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2010 to 2014 where he enhanced his multilateral experience.
In subsequent years, Mr. Şahinol held senior diplomatic positions, including Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Brazil (2017-2019), and First Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C. (2022-2023), before being appointed Consul General of Türkiye in Miami.
His decades of service in various capacities have shaped him into a seasoned diplomat with a strong foundation in international law and foreign policy, now dedicated to fostering Türkiye-U.S. relations through his work in Miami.
